As promised (well, with a delay of one day then), the photo’s from Schier are now in the Gallery. It’s quite diverse if you keep in mind they were all taken within three days. You’ll find everything from beaches with blue skies to storms over sea to mushrooms. Check it out. Well, that’s all for now.

A lot faster than I had thought, the serverswitch is already complete. It seems the DNS update didn’t take that long after all, it was all done by 10 o’clock this morning. Anyway, it means that the photo’s from Italy are now online!
There are 38 images from this trip in the gallery. Not exactly a large number if you consider I was there for eight days, but I’m a little more selective about what I upload and what I don’t upload then I was before, and aside from that I don’t have much time to post-process the photo’s anymore, so I spend my time on the best. Also, I’m almost done with the photo’s from Schiermonnikoog, you’ll have them tomorrow.
You might have noticed it, you might have not, but there have been some glitches with the site the last few days. Yesterday you might have experienced very long load times, today you could have encountered various error messages. It all has to do with switching servers – I’ve been hosting this site myself, but that is no longer an option because I’ll be in New Zealand for half a year. Speaking of which, in 5 days I’ll be up in the air, halfway between Amsterdam and Hong Kong.
Aside from that, I almost have the photo’s from Italy ready. You’ll have to wait for them until the site transfer is fully complete though (24-48hrs). I’ve also made a blitzvisit to Schiermonnikoog this week, you’ll get those photo’s before wednesday as well, I hope.
I’ve made a small adjustment to the gallery. Thumbnails are now no longer square like they used to be, but are proportional to the original image. I was getting tired of all the cropping that was involved to make the photo’s square because it ruined the composition of the photo’s. They didn’t give a good impression of what the photograph was like, which is, quite frankly, the purpose of a thumbnail.
The layout of the gallery pages is now a little bit less nice, but It’ll have to do for now: I don’t think I’ll get round to fixing it since I’m leaving in 17 days.
A week ago in Italy we were at ‘Fattoria Il Pogio’, a farm where they make wine and olive oil, among other things. We weren’t the only ones though, the ‘Kursaal Car Club’ was having a meeting. As was clear from the moment we arrived, this club was all about classic cars. We had a great time at Il Pogio, trying out their different kinds of wine and food, but I’d say the best part, or at least the part I won’t forget, was when one of the owners of the various classic cars asked if I wanted to see the interior, and then told me to take a seat in his Ferrari so he could take a picture of me.

Well, it didn’t stay with one picture. I took a lot myself of all different kinds of cars. Most were from the 1960′s, but there were some pre-WWII cars as well. Most memorable was probably the 1966 Ferrari 275 that costs €450.000 plus nowadays, but ofcourse the various Porsche’s, Jaguar’s, Alfa’s, Fiat’s, Triumph’s, etc. were all worthwile as well. I uploaded the photo’s to the gallery, but not under ‘Italy’ as you might expect. I decided to make a special ‘theme’ section for very specific subjects, like, in this case, classic cars. I’ve made the effort to name all pictures so you will know what car you’re looking at.
As for the rest of the photo’s, I’m still working on them, have patience.
I returned from Italy yesterday. We’ve had a week of beautiful weather amidst the gently shelving hills: blue skies, and during the day the temperature rarely dropped below 20° C. I somehow managed to return with way too many photo’s, which I’ll have to sort out withing 20 days (Yikes, is it that close?) – try to, anyway. If I don’t get them all done, I’ll post them in six months
